When I was little, the night before Easter was spent coloring eggs and knowing that the next day we would have a basket full of candy and eggs, and we would have an egg hunt with Mom and Dad laughing watching us three girls try to find them all. There was always that one last one that took us awhile. When we got older, we had our church services, then came home and gorge ourselves on candy and eggs.

Then I got married, which changed everything. There was still coloring the eggs, hiding the eggs (when the kids got older), getting their pics taken with the Easter Bunny on a horse, still they went to church, also. Year after year of hiding eggs, not being able to find that "last one" until it was way too late. Watching the kids fight over the results of the egg find because "I saw it first and you took it", or "It's not fair I fell down", and the best one, " You pushed me and made me fall down so you could have the last egg." There was always a yell of "Mom, it's not fair!" Last year I knew it was probably the last egg hunt I would have with the kids, they were older, they really didn't want to, but when Saturday night came and it was just Amber and I that wanted to color eggs, I knew that our yearly ritual that had taken place for 16 years was over. Looking back over the memories today made me realize just how much fun I had watching the kids have fun!
