Disappointing Snowfall

We watched the computer forecasts...the weather forecasts...the weathermen doubletalking themselves...and it still didn't come out the way they said. According to the concensus among them all, we would be getting an arctic front coming down and meeting up with the low coming out of the Gulf of Mexico. Amber and I were really excited, Patrick wasn't excited, because it meant if we had too much, and stayed below freezing then school would more than likely be out on Tuesday, and he was getting bored at home with nothing to do. Well, it was supposed to start snowing around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning and quit around 11 p.m. on Saturday evening...well, when I peeked out the window at 4:30, it wasn't snowing, just cloudy and it was 39. At 11 a.m. it finally started snowing. It wasn't sticking on the ground...well I didn't think it would because on Friday it was 58 here, so I figured, okay, it will stick soon when the arctic air comes in. The snow started sticking around noon, temps were falling, so Amber and I were getting really excited. Snow in the pine trees, on the evergreens, started to cover the ground. Around 2 there was a problem...the temps hovered around 36, no arctic air was coming in, the snow started to melt off the trees and ground....and it continued spitting snow. I kept checking the weather station on the computer and they kept saying it was coming in and we could expect 1-1 1/2 inches an hour....NOT! We ended up getting around 1" on the rails, and 1/4-3/4" on the ground that stuck, and that's because that came right as the sun was setting and it was starting to get below freezing. Yesterday, it didn't get above 30 and today it will get it the mid 30's. We do have icicles on the car and truck, and there's still snow patches on the ground. Patrick is happy because he can go back to school tomorrow since today was MLK day here. He's had a very nice 5 day weekend, since Thursday and Friday they were off since they were snow days from Wednesday's snowfall. Hopefully we will be getting more snowfalls and not as disappointing.
