New Computer

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My computer started acting funny around May or June...started with what I thought was the keyboard...having to wait for letters to come up, or the wrong one would. I went out and bought the one for $10 and it still did it occasionally, but I put that up to me hitting the wrong keys or not hitting them when I thought I did. Then it started slowing waaaaay down...15 minutes to load a web page was getting ridiculous. I thought I had a virus, but after all the scans, nothing...and it would take 8 hours to scan, and that was a regular fast one, not the deep internal scan. Then programs would freeze or not come up at all and I had to reboot every 3 or 4 hours. I had called up the computer repair place and they said it was probably the registry and told me what to do, so I did and it did get faster, for a time. Last Monday night it decided it was going to start freezing on the screen saver everytime it got to the picture of me and Jimmy at Bonita Beach...I would freeze there too....so I took off the screen saver....worked fine Tuesday. Wednesday was a different story. It started to freeze on every application I went on. I have 2 different hard drives so I decided to boot into that one, but it froze at the Welcome screen. Instead of throwing it out the window I took it to the repair shop. Friday afternoon I got the call...$887 to fix...cooling fan was slow and almost shot, CPU was down and motherboard needed replacing. Friday night I called around to find a cheap desktop and was told it was $598...went to Wal-Mart on Saturday and found a Compaq for $298 and 75% off...they were no longer going to carry just the desktop w/o monitor, so I got a deal. I've never had one run so fast before....even Amber was impressed!!!! What used to take me almost 3 hours to look through 147 real estate listings now takes me less than 30 minutes..that is unless I have to wait for the kids to examine every minute detail and say yay or nay. Anyhow, I'm a happy camper again...at least for the time being.
