Rebel was the firstborn out of Dixie's first litter, August 25, 2007. He was one of the ones I kept, including Smackie. He had stayed in the doghouses with the other dogs until Labor Day of last year when him and Raskull got in a huge fight. It never got better after that, so we had to chain Rebel outside the cages. I hate chaining a dog up, but I also didn't want him going to the Humane Society. I would rather him live on a chain with people who loved him than going there to be adopted by a person that I didn't know would take care of him. Two weeks ago Amber and I were cleaning out the dog cages and Rebel walked into the main cage where Raskull was and they went at it, holding onto faces and paws, while Amber and I tried pulling them apart. We decided that Rebel was never going to be able to get back into that cage with Raskull. The thing we couldn't understand was Rebel and Raskull can sleep side by side, one inside, one outside the cage, lick each other's paws and faces, but as soon as they don't have that cage between them or as soon as people have them close together they are literally at each other's faces. We had 2 puppies left to give away and a lady came to get one of them. She asked to see the other dogs, so I took her back. Rebel came over to her and lay down on her feet. I told her that we had to give him up too. She ended up taking Rebel instead of the puppies. I know he'll be in a good home there, and he won't be on a chain. He has a couple of acres to run around on and a pond to swim in, and we can go see him anytime we want.
