Another Storm, Pretty Snow

We knew there was going to be another storm coming through...usually every 3-5 days we've been getting one, well, except for when the really cold air is here, then it stops, warms up above freezing for a couple of days then the storms are a mix of rain/sleet/freezing rain/snow. We knew that we weren't going to be getting a huge amount of snow, actually they weren't calling for any for us at first. A cold, cold rain, then it was showing in NE GA sleet/freezing rain for a few hours before transitioning to a cold rain. Well, on Thursday, it was gray, dreary, and cold. They said to expect the rain about 5, so at 1:45 I happened to glance out the window, and it was snowing. It would get harder, then more flurries, then harder, then more flurries. At 2:45 I picked Danny up and we went into town to Home Depot...ended up getting some more African Violets and FINALLY a purple passion plant like the one that I had to leave behind in Florida when we moved here to Georgia. (We should have got more bird food because the birds have been eating it faster than it can be replenished, it seems.) Anyhow, Clayton was gorgeous...heavy snow that was already starting to build up on the grassy areas, then slush was forming in the parking lot. When we got home at 3:30 we already had 1/4" accumulating on surfaces. Amber and Patrick decided to go down the path to the pond we have at the bottom of where we live. Patrick slid a few times, but Amber really did...she should have just slid the whole way down. She would fall, slide, get back up, walk a few steps and do it again. At 6:00, all the snow was over and the rain was starting to mix in with sleet. By 6:45 it was all a light rain, and by 7:00 it was pure rain. Patrick thought for sure they were going to call off school, so he stayed up until 1:30, (I don't know anything you know...), and Brian thought that work was going to be called off...so it was a HUGE shock to them when I woke them up the next morning and told them that school and work was a go. All in all we ended up getting 1" of snow that stuck, and then 3 1/2" of rain after that. But isn't it a pretty sight?
