This time the snowstorm we were gonna get was looking more and more like we wouldn't see anything. The meteorologists were saying it was going to hit around Atlanta and points south, even to the point of having up to 2 inches in Florida. All the models kept trending more and more south, and was looking like we'd be sunny, all until 2 days before it came. Then it was looking like we might see a coating, then a dusting, up to an inch, maybe two, could be three, isolated four, but no more than five or six inches. Friday it started to snow a little after noon...tiny little flakes, then harder, but still tiny, little flakes. By 3:00, it was snowing pretty hard, but we were still under a Winter Weather Advisory, not to exceed 3 inches here. At 5:00 the NWS out of Greenville/Spartanburg, SC issued a Winter Weather Warning, saying we could see up to 5 inches of snow...by that time there were cars running off the roads, getting stuck in ditches. Danny was out helping getting cars out of ditches, but by 8:30 that night, it had been enough. East 76, which is the main highway that connects Georgia to South Carolina up our way, had been closed down, 30 cars off the roads. Patrick's friend, Zach, had 8 inches where he lives on Germany Mountain and we ended up with 4. Since there was no warnings put out for heavy snow, there was nothing put on the roads, until late at night. Yesterday we went down to Toccoa, into town to WalMart, and there were still places that were really slick. Amber started to build her snowman, but got discouraged pretty fast, so today I went outside and told her if she was gonna help to build "Henry" we had to get a move on. 4 1/2 hours later we had a pretty good imitation of a snowman...we had used up 99% of the snow that was left on the ground, that we could get to....some of it had been walked through so much that it was icy. We're expecting another 2-5" of snow tomorrow. Here's some pics we took when Danny and I took a walk after the snow, the day after, and then on Valentine's Day when we built "Henry." Isn't he handsome?
