Happy Thanksgiving

In Thanksgivings when I was little, it all started with the parades on TV. My sisters and I would sit and watch, while Dad and Mom were in the kitchen getting the turkey and ham ready along with baking. Now the baking included chocolate cookies and banana nut cookies. They were the best. Always moist and us girls waited until the chocolate ones were frosted with icing before sneaking as many as we could....of course we'd get sick on them, but it didn't really matter. Then I got married and started traditions of my own. Always a ham and turkey and baking cookies. Usually the cookie baking started on Wednesday so I had to worry about was the turkey and ham. Yesterday I baked 2 sets of double chocolate chip brownies, one for Summer and her family and one for Kendal and her family. After I picked Brian up at Kendal's house, went by WalMart..thank goodness it's open 24/7....and picked up brown sugar, I decided to wait until today to bake. What a MISTAKE! Now I know why I always baked the day and night before. Hopefully I won't repeat the same mistake next year! We'll have Summer, Kendal, and Kyle over, but not eating all at once, so at least I'll have time to finish baking things in between when they arrive and eat and when the next one comes. Christmas, on the other hand, will be a different matter altogether.
There have been Thanksgivings when there have been tears and when there have been laughter and also a mixture of both, usually because of my sisters when I was younger and now it's because of reflection of the past and what's in store for the fututre.
So, to all of mine and Danny's friends and families, both far and near, we wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and want you to know that we are thinking of you today.
