We kept watching the weather and it was a "slug of rain coming up through Georgia, but should only get to 1/2", not like the 2" rains we've been having." Well, NOAA or NWS always has us for chance snow/rain, sleet/snow, sleet/rain, or wintry mix when a cold front and moisture is coming in at the same or close to the same time, especially these last few weeks. We were supposed to have a huge snowstorm around Dec. 17, then we were suppoed to have a White Christmas, and then it was pushed off to a couple of days after Christmas, and instead we ended up getting a total of 7 1/2" of rain the last 3 storms. Well, when we heard 1/2" rain, and the models came showing us at 1", I thought, yep, ground was gonna be flooded and saturated again, well, I was right in some way.
It started at 6:30 give or take a few minutes when the rain came. Danny was talking to his friend Tim who lives a little over 4 miles south of us and he said he had sleet there...well, I got up out of my computer chair, had been chatting back and forth with the people on the weather forums in the SE Thread about the rains coming through, and sure enough, we had a nice "crunchy" coating on the ground. Rain wasn't pouring, it was light, and it started to just be sleet. About an hour later, I checked again and it wasn't doing anything, no sleet, no rain, and I looked on the radar and it showed rain all over the place. Danny came out of the bedroom, walked to the windows and flipped on the outside like and told me it was snowing....I didn't believe him. He said it again and motioned outside so I went over and sure enough it was snowing. It ended up snowing until a few minutes after midnight. Danny, Amber, and I went walking through our "winter wonderland" and made some snow angels, threw a couple of snowballs and walked back. The dogs didn't like the snow too much. We ended up getting just under 2" of snow.
The snow didn't last throughout the day....by 3:30 it was off the ground and mud and standing water was left. Hurricane and Chewy hate going out..here's some of Chewy trying to get up off the ground, and Hurricane debating whether to go outside or stay on the porch...she ended up staying by the front door after the pic was taken.

Surprise Snow
How about the boots Amber was wearing? They're Danny's old ones and she thinks she looks hot in them. Brian beaned her with a snowball...calling her on the phone and said he had to talk to her outside. He got her with 5 or 6 of them...you should have heard her screaming..."No, no, it's my good jacket. That's cold." Well, duh, yeah, it's cold, it's snow! We had a good time...now if we can get a few more snowstorms here it would be great!
